Police statement as A361 remains closed following serious crash near Asda

The A361 in Frome remains closed this morning following a serious crash. It happened near the Asda store at around 10.30pm last night (Tuesday).

Police have confirmed two vehicles were involved in the collision. It is currently unclear if anyone has been injured but an eyewitness said they could see two air ambulances in the area.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and diversions are in place. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Emergency services were called to the A361 Frome Bypass at 10.30pm last night (Tuesday 25 July) following reports of a serious road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

“The road has been closed from Berkley Roundabout to the junction with the A362 Rodden Down and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. A diversion is in place along Clink Road.

“We thank the public for their patience and understanding at this time.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident who have yet to speak with police. They are also interested in seeing any relevant footage, including CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage from around the time of the collision.
