Police witness plea after crash leaves young biker in ‘critical’ condition

Police[1] are appealing for witnesses after a biker was left in a critical condition following a ‘serious collision’. Emergency services descended on Goms Mill last night to reports of a crash in the neighbourhood.

As reported by StokeonTrentLive, West Midlands Ambulance Service say they were called to a crash at the junction of Goms Mill Road and Gardiner Driver just after 8.35pm last night. The biker, a man in his 20s, received ‘advanced trauma care’ before being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.[2][3][4]

Now Staffordshire Police[5] has urged anyone who saw the motorbike before the crash – or witnessed the actual incident – to get in touch as officers with the collision investigation unit have been called in. A spokesman said: “We were called to Gardiner Drive following reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle.

“Officers went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. A man, in his 20s, was found with serious head injuries at the scene and was taken to hospital.

“He remains in a critical but stable condition. We are currently reviewing CCTV and speaking to those who were in the area at the time.

“Those who witnessed the motorbike being driven before the collision, saw the collision itself or those with relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage are asked to get in touch.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and two BASICS emergency doctors to the scene. A spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival we found a motorcyclist. He was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained serious injuries.

“He received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene and was conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment. No further patients required treatment.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the force on 101 and quote incident 748 of July 19. Alternatively contact collision investigators directly by e-mailing [email protected].
