Sherborne: Boy airlifted to hospital after crash with lorry
The boy was airlifted to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
A second person has been taken to the hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.
As previously reported[1], Dorset Police received a report at 12.36 pm on Monday 24 July 2023 of a collision involving a blue Audi A5 and a concrete mixer lorry in Bradford Road, Sherborne, near to the Oxley Sports Centre.
A man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and remains in police custody.
Police, fire and ambulance services all rushed to the scene of the crash, which saw one person rescued from a car by firefighters.
The road was closed following the crash as drivers were advised to find alternative routes.
Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following the crash.
Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch if they have not already spoken to police.
“Also, I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.
“The road remains closed at this time while we carry out a thorough examination of the scene and I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding at this time.”
