St Giles’ Avenue in Scartho closed as woman ‘seriously injured’ in incident – updates
A woman has been taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries following an incident involving a car on St Giles’ Avenue in Scartho[1] shortly before 9am this morning.
Police have advised people to avoid the area, with all access routes to the road having been closed. A police cordon has also been put in place.
Officers remain at the scene and a stationary Ford Transit van can be seen in the middle of the road. A passer-by at the scene said they heard “commotion” at school-run time and that many workmen are currently in the area.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police[3] said: “Officers were in attendance on St Giles Avenue in Grimsby following reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car at 8.50am this morning, Monday 3 July.
“A woman was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment for serious injuries.”
Taking to social media, the force wrote shortly after the incident: “Please note that St Giles’ Avenue, Grimsby, and all access routes to this road are currently closed whilst we deal with an incident. Officers have advised to avoid the area until further notice.”
