Two-vehicle crash closes A82 near Glencoe

A male motorcyclist has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the A82 at Glencoe.

Police received reports of the incident at 4.05pm on Friday on the A82 Fort William to Glasgow road.

The incident, involving a red BMW motorbike and a white Audi Q5, happened near the Three Sisters Viewpoint.

Police closed the road for around four hours as emergency crews responded.

A 50-year-old man, the rider of the motorcycle, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. His condition is unknown.

The driver and three passengers in the Audi did not require medical treatment.

In a statement, a police spokeswoman said: “At 4.05pm on Friday, July 14, police were called to a two-vehicle crash on the A82, near the Three Sisters Viewpoint in Glencoe[6].

“Emergency services attended and one person was taken to hospital. The road re-opened around 7.40pm.”

During the closure, drivers and Scottish Citylink[7] customers were warned to expect travel delays.

Police appeal for dash cam footage

Police[8] have launched an investigation to establish the events leading up to the crash.

Officers are appealing for drivers to check their dash cam footage as inquiries continue.

Police sergeant Calum MacAulay, of the forces road policing unit, said: “Our investigation continues, and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dash cam footage, to please get in touch.

“Information can be passed to Police Scotland by calling 101, and quoting reference 2520 of Friday, July 14.”
