Van driver is taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in East Devon

The driver of a van involved in a crash on a busy East Devon road on Sunday lunchtime (July 2) was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police were called to the A3052 Sidmouth Road near Farringdon, East Devon, shortly after 1pm, after a two-vehicle crash involving a postal van and a Land Rover Discovery.

The van driver was taken to hospital with what police described as ‘serious injuries’.

The driver of the Land Rover was left with minor injuries.

Several police vehicles were seen at the crash site as officers directed traffic while the busy road was partly blocked as a result of the two-vehicle collision.

The vehicles were towed from the crash site and the road was cleared by mid-afternoon.

A Devon and Cornwall Police[1] spokeswoman said: “Police were called at around 1.15pm on Sunday 2 July to Sidmouth Road following a report of a two-vehicle collision near Farringdon.

“The driver of a van was taken to hospital with serious injuries, not considered to be life-threatening or changing.

“The driver of a car sustained minor injuries.

“The vehicles were recovered and the road cleared at 3.30pm.”
