Woman dies after being struck by two cars as police appeal for information

A woman has died after being struck by two cars in Stretford.

Police were called to reports of a collision on Chester Road, near to the Tesco Superstore, shortly after 10.10pm last night (Saturday, July 22).

It is believed that the woman, in her 40s, was struck by a black Audi A8 which was travelling city bound whilst she crossed Chester Road, before falling into the path of a Mercedes on the Stretford bound carriageway, Greater Manchester Police have said.

The Audi left the scene but was recovered nearby.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman sustained fatal injuries. Her family have been contacted and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The collision occurred outside the Tesco Superstore on Chester Road, Stretford

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention, and remains in custody.
