The driver of the Suzuki - a woman aged in her 80s from the Shaftesbury area - was taken to hospital for treatment.
She remains in a serious condition and her family has been informed.
The occupants of the Ford were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to safely deal with the incident.
Officers investigating the crash are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Police Constable Gavin Newbury, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Specialist officers are carrying out a detailed investigation into the circumstances of this collision.
“I am appealing to any witnesses who may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident, or the collision itself, and have not already spoken to us to please come forward.
“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and have dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything relevant.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding as the road closures were in place. These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for us to carry out an examination of the collision scene.”
