1 driver killed, 4 others injured in 2-car N.J. crash, officials say
One driver died and four other people were injured when two cars crashed early Tuesday morning in Newark[1], officials said.
Officers responded to the crash around 4:20 a.m. at the intersection of Broad Street and Pennington Street, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office[2] and the Newark Police Department.
Jose Murillo, 34, of Elizabeth, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The driver of the other vehicle and its three passengers were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries, police said.
No other information about the crash was released late Tuesday afternoon as the incident remained under investigation by the agencies.
