88-year-old woman dies a week after central Pa. crash: coroner

An 88-year-old woman died in WellSpan York Hospital Friday morning, one week after being involved in a car crash in Manchester Township.

The York County Coroner’s Office says Kantaben Desai, of Manchester Township, failed to stop at a stop sign while driving near Kayla Boulevard and Stillmeadow Lane on Aug. 18, and hit another vehicle.

The coroner’s office believes Desai may have been experiencing a medical emergency when the crash happened because she was found unresponsive in her car, which came to rest in a ditch.

Desai was taken to WellSpan York Hospital where she died Friday.

No autopsy will take place, the coroner’s office says.

It’s not known how many people were in the other vehicle or their conditions.

The Northern York County Regional Police Department is investigating the accident.
