A1 Nottinghamshire live crash updates as collision with lorry and car causes miles of congestion

A crash between a lorry and a car caused miles of congestion along a major stretch of the A1 in Nottinghamshire. The East Midlands division of the National Highways agency said the collision has occurred on the A1 northbound between the A57 at Markham Moor and the B6387 at Elkesley.[1][2]

The agency said there was four miles of congestion along the road following the crash, causing delays of around 40 minutes. One lane of the northbound carriageway was closed and emergency services were at the scene.

The traffic monitoring site Inrix said congestion affected the Tuxford turn-off and routes through to Ollerton[3] as drivers found alternative routes.
