A46 crash: Motorcyclist dies after collision with white van near Tewkesbury

A motorcyclist died in a crash on the A46 near Tewkesbury[1] this afternoon (August 30). Gloucestershire Police were called to the collision close to the MOD base at St Barbara’s Barracks, in Ashchurch, at around 4pm.

The air ambulance also rushed to the scene and the road was closed in both directions between the M5 and the A435. Police say the crash involved a black Honda motorbike and a white Ford Transit van.

Sadly, the rider of the motorbike, a man in his 20s and from Tewkesbury, was pronounced dead at the scene. The van driver was uninjured.

Investigating officers are now keen to hear from anyone with information on the fatal collision. They are urging anyone who saw what happened or who has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Gloucestershire Police[3] said: “A man has died following a collision on the A46 in Ashchurch this evening (Wednesday 30 August). He was riding a black Honda motorbike that was in collision with a white Ford Transit van close to the MOD base at St Barbara’s Barracks at around 4pm.

“The air ambulance attended but sadly the rider, in his 20s and from Tewkesbury, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The van driver was uninjured.

“Anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or who has relevant dashcam footage, is urged to submit information via 101 or the following online form[4], quoting incident 322 of 30 August. Road closures remain in place while a full collision investigation takes place.”
