Air ambulance attends after several hurt in serious M5 crash

Several people were hurt following a crash involving a black car and a white van near junction 8 of the motorway yesterday evening (Friday, August 18).

The Midland Air Ambulance, which is based in nearby Strensham, attended for a woman in her 80s, according to the police.

The northbound motorway was closed for several hours, with several miles of queueing traffic backing up.

West Mercia Police said last night: “Officers are at the scene of a serious collision on the M5 north just before J8, near the M50.

"Ambulance and air ambulance also in attendance.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.”

National Highways said traffic was diverted from the area using the exit and entry slip roads.

The road was reopened in the early hours of the morning following police investigations.
