Air ambulance rushes to serious crash between lorry and car as A39 closed for ‘some time’
An air ambulance has landed near Cannington in Somerset after a serious crash involving a lorry containing livestock and a car. The A39 has been closed in both directions from Currypool Lane to Oatley Lane[1], east of the village.
The collision was initially reported at 6.35am today (Monday, August 7), Avon and Somerset Police say. Emergency services have rushed to the scene, including an air ambulance.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time and drivers have been advised to take alternate routes. SomersetLive has contacted the ambulance service and fire service for more information.
A spokesperson for the force said: “The A39 is shut in both directions following a collision between a car and a lorry carrying livestock.
“The collision, between Fiddington and Cannington, was reported at 6.35am this morning (Monday 7 August). Emergency services and the air ambulance are at the scene.
“The road closure is due to be in place for some time and therefore we’d advise motorists to seek an alternative route.”
