At least 13 hurt after truck and MTA bus collide in NYC

More than a dozen people were hurt when a construction truck hit an MTA bus on the Upper West Side Thursday, officials said.

The truck swerved to avoid a car and clipped the northbound M11 bus at West 82nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue around 11:20 a.m., authorities said.

Thirteen people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Morningside. A fourteenth person was also injured, but refused medical attention, the FDNY said.

The bus driver, an MTA veteran “with about 25 years of service” was among the injured, according to Chief Safety Officer Patrick Warren.

“Nobody wakes up in the morning thinking they’re going to be in an incident like this,” Warren said at a news conference after the crash.

Video on the Citizen App[1] showed the front driver’s side window of the bus shattered.

The bus was taken out of service after the crash, the MTA said.
