Birmingham city centre police incident live as multiple roads closed and rail services halted
Multiple roads are closed with rail services disrupted due to a police incident in Birmingham city centre[1]. Emergency services are currently working at Snow Hill station.
West Midlands Roads said nearby Livery Street was closed. The busy Great Charles Street Queensway from St Chads onto the A38 southbound was also said to be closed off.
National Express West Midlands said it was currently accepting rail tickets on any service that serves the Snow Hill line. The nature of the incident was not immediately clear but National Railway said it was due to trespass.
A spokesperson said: “A trespass incident[3] between Birmingham Moor Street and Jewellery Quarter means that services between these stations may be delayed, cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until 19:30.”
The Inrix traffic management system added: “Service suspended on West Midlands Railway and Chiltern Railways between Birmingham Moor Street and Jewellery Quarter due to trespass incident at Birmingham Snow Hill.”
West Midlands Police has been contacted for a response. This is a developing story and will be updated. See below for the latest updates.
