Bus rollover accident near Grand Canyon kills 1, over 50 injured

GRAND CANYON WEST, Arizona – One person died and more than 50 are injured after a bus rolled over near the Grand Canyon in Arizona on Tuesday, authorities said.

The rollover occurred at about 9:50 a.m. local time within the Grand Canyon Resort Corp Circle in Terminal 1, Hualapai Emergency Operations said in a news release[1]. A total of 57 people were involved in the rollover, including one fatality and eight people who were flown to surrounding hospitals. The rest sustained noncritical injuries and were taken to area hospitals via ground transportation.

A number of agencies responded to the rollover in addition to Hualapai Emergency Services, including GCW Air Rescue Fire, Arizona Consolidated Fire Department, Bullhead Fire Department, Lake Mohave Ranches Fire Department, AMR ambulances and five medical flight agencies.

The Hualapai Nation Police Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety are investigating the one fatality.

The incident is ongoing and no further information is available, according to the release.
