Children escape injury after A500 crash between lorry and car

Two children escaped injury after the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A500. Paramedics checked the youngsters over following the smash on the D-road[1] southbound near the City Road Interchange.

The trucker was assessed and had also escaped unhurt. All lanes have since reopened following the smash, which happened at around 3.30pm today and led to delays of around 25 minutes.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] spokesman said: “A passing-by ambulance crew came across a road traffic collision involving a car and a HGV. Ambulance staff found three patients.

"Two children who were passengers in the car, and the driver of the lorry. All three were assessed and were uninjured. They received self care advice before being discharged at the scene. The driver of the car did not require assessment.”

Staffordshire Police also attended the incident and confirmed there were no injuries.
