Driver speeds into drug charges: North Ridgeville police blotter

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio

Drug charge: Stoney Ridge Road

On August 8, an officer stopped a driver for speeding 52 mph in a 35-mph zone. The driver had a suspended license and was transported to jail. He was unable to post bond so he was transported to the Lorain County Jail. While walking the man into jail, he dropped a plastic bag containing drugs. He was charged with illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility, drug possession, speeding and driving under suspension.

Obstruction: Center Ridge Road

On August 9, an officer made contact with a car in the parking lot of a closed business. It was determined the vehicle was involved in a theft east of North Ridgeville. While speaking with the occupants, the driver fled. Due to heavy traffic, the pursuit was terminated. The driver was charged with obstructing official business, fleeing an officer and traffic charges.

Drunk driving: Lorain Road

Officers responded to a complaint of an impaired driver on August 8. The driver was located and arrested on a drunk driving charge.

Theft: Chaddwyck Lane

A woman reported being scammed out of 1,000 on August 6.

Assault: Lorain Road

A business owner was assaulted on August 5. A suspect was located and charged.

Protection order violation: US 20

During a traffic stop on August 3, police determined a man passenger had an outstanding through Lorain Police and was in violation of a temporary protection order since the woman was in the car. He was arrested and taken to Lorain County Jail.

Fleeing: Avon Belden Road

On July 28, police responded to a single-car crash. The driver and passengers fled, and the car was towed.

Hit skip: Avon Belden Road

Police were dispatched for a hit-skip accident on August 5. The at-fault driver was identified and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
