Eric Anziani ID’d as 28-year-old ‘beautiful soul’ killed in Methuen crash
A 28-year-old man who died from a motorcycle-involved crash in Methuen last week[1] has been identified as Eric Anziani of Haverhill, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office told MassLive.
“Those of us who had the privilege of knowing you and treating you can only say, you were a great person,” Anziani’s uncle Juan Anziani said on Facebook[2]. “You will alway be in our hearts.”
Anziani was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of Lowell and Arnold Streets just before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, Police Chief Scott J. McNamara said in a statement[4]. Anziani was pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital.
Officers determined that the motorcycle, a 2009 Yamaha, was going east on Lowell Street when it collided with a 2021 black Jeep Wrangler that was turning onto Arnold Street. The driver of the Jeep, a 59-year-old Methuen man, stayed at the scene of the crash, McNamara said.
According to a Facebook post[6] from Anziani’s brother Engels, a candle lighting ceremony was held in his memory last Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the same intersection where the crash occurred.
“Let’s gather together to bring light into this beautiful soul,” Engels Anziani wrote. “Sleep in peace baby brother.”
The crash is being investigated by Methuen Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
