Essex Police investigation after A12 crash in Colchester
Essex Police was called to reports of a collision involving three vehicles on the London-bound A12 between Colchester United and the Avenue of Remembrance at about 9.30am on Monday.
A woman and a child were airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital[1], Cambridge, with serious injuries after being rescued from a campervan[2] by fire crews from Colchester and Wivenhoe fire stations.
The two casualties remain in hospital receiving treatment for their injuries following the incident, which saw both sides of the A12 closed for about four hours[3].

A police spokesman confirmed detectives are looking into the circumstances, but no arrests have been made at present.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or captured dash cam footage has been urged to come forward to assist the police’s inquiries.
