Firefighters free two people from BMW after crash with lorry in Grangetown
Firefighters freed two people from a BMW after it collided with a lorry.
Emergency services were called on Wednesday to a two-vehicle smash on Bolckow Road in Grangetown[1]. According to traffic site Inrix, the A66[2] was blocked partially in both directions.
Pictures seen by Teesside Live show multiple 999 vehicles in attendance with Cleveland Police[3] confirming the driver and passengers of the BMW were taken to hospital.
The crash was reported to police at around 12.37pm and two people were freed from the BMW by firefighters.
A fire brigade spokesperson confirmed: “We were called on 16/08/2023 at 12.48 to an RTC on Bolckow Road in Grangetown.
“Three fire engines in attendance from Grangetown, Redcar[5] and Stockton[6]. Crews extricated two people from car. Causalities passed over to NEAS. We left the scene at 13.46.”
The crash caused tailbacks of 10 minutes according to the AA, a spokesperson said: “Severe delays of 10 minutes and delays increasing on A66 Eastbound between A171 Cargo Fleet Lane (Cargo Fleet Interchange) and Whitworth Road. Average speed five mph.”
Officers were seen packing up cones on Wednesday afternoon and left the scene at around 2.23pm. The road has been cleared.
