Glasgow bus driver dies in hospital days after horror crash with van on A77
A Glasgow[1] bus driver has died in hospital days after horrific crash[2] involving a van.
The single decker Stagecoach bus was travelling to Glasgow along the A77 near Newton Mearns at around 5.30pm on Monday, August 14, when the incident involving a Ford Transit van took place.
The 23-year-old bus driver was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life-threatening injuries following the incident near to the A719 junction.
Sadly he later died in hospital. The 42-year-old van driver is in a serious but stable condition. Both men had to be airlifted to hospital.
Two bus passengers – a 68-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man – were also taken to hospital by ambulance and later discharged.
The road was closed for ten hours while crash investigations were carried out.
Enquiries into the incident are still ongoing with officers urging those with information to come forward.
