Gust of wind blew small plane off course before crash outside N.J. airport, cops say

A small plane crashed[1] into a tree outside Princeton Airport in Montgomery on Wednesday after a gust of wind blew the single-engine Cessna off course, authorities said.

The pilot, who was not injured, attempted to gain altitude but instead struck a tree on the south side of Airpark Road, Montgomery police said Thursday.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane is a single-engine Cessna 172R and that two were aboard when the plane crashed near the airport just before 9 a.m..

The crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
