Hampshire Police seek witnesses and dash cam footage following death of motorist which saw junction three of the M27 near Ower closed for four hours

WITNESSES and dash cam footage are being sought by police after a man died following a crash on the M27 near Ower.

The incident, involving a black BMW 330E and a white Ford Fiesta, took place on Friday at around 1.15pm.

Police closed the motorway between junction two at Ower and junction three at Nursling for around four hours while specialist officers conducted enquiries at the scene.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said the BMW had collided with the Ford and the central reservation barrier before leaving the road.

The spokesperson said: “Despite the best efforts of emergency services and members of the public who stopped to help, the driver, a 35-year-old man from Bradford, was pronounced dead.

“His family have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers.”

Anyone with information about the collision who has not already spoken to police is urged to come forward.

The spokesperson added: “Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw a black BMW or white Fiesta on the M27 shortly before 1.15pm?

“We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dash cam footage.

“We would also like to thank all those diverted or inconvenienced for their patience and co-operation.”
