LIVE: Delays around A500 as police and paramedics called to incident

Police and paramedics are on a busy A500[1] roundabout this morning. Motorists are reporting queues and a diversion around Hanchurch while emergency services remain at the scene.

It is believed a collision has taken place at the busy junction with a recovery wagon also in attendance. Meanwhile drivers say part of the roundabout has been coned off and motorists are being diverted.

One driver told StokeonTrentLive: "I think there has been a crash on the roundabout - I saw police, an ambulance and a recovery truck.

"I travelled along Newcastle Road and was able to cross the roundabout onto Clayton Road. But when I came back down Clayton Road I couldn't rejoin Newcastle Road towards the Whitmore Road as the roundabout is partly blocked off. Motorists are going down the A500 instead.

"It is quite busy in the area."

We have contacted both Staffordshire Police[2] and West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] for further details.

Further updates will be provided in the blog below.
