M32 Bristol diversion route after overturned lorry sheds load

A diversion route is in place for drivers on the M32[1] today (August 17) after an overturned lorry led to a road closure on the southbound carriageway. The vehicle shed its load of stones and sand across the carriageway near Hambrook, with a fuel spillage also reported.

According to National Highways[2], a closure is in place between M4 J19 and M32 J1. Lane three is closed on the M32 northbound between J1 and the M4.

The M4 J19 westbound exit slip road and entry slip from M4 westbound is closed. A diversion route is in place and drivers are being urged to follow the solid square diversion symbol on road signs.

  • Exit the M5 at J16 and take the third exit on to the A38 to Filton.
  • At the A38 Filton roundabout take the 1st exit on to the A4174
  • Follow the A4174 and take the 3rd exit to rejoin the M32.

Emergency services are in attendance at the scene as the clean-up operation continues. National Highways Traffic Officers and National Highways Service Providers are on scene to assist with traffic management and clear up works.
