M5 drivers warned after four vehicles and caravan crash
M5 drivers are being warned of huge delays near the Devon border this afternoon (August 24) after four vehicles and a caravan crashed. Emergency services and the air ambulance rushed to the incident between junctions 25 (Taunton) and 24 (Bridgwater) at around 12.20pm.[1]
There are delays of around 90-minutes on the northbound carriageway and motorists have been urged to avoid the area. In an update, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed four vehicles and a caravan are involved in the collision.
The force warns that the road is not expected to fully reopen before 3pm. A police spokesperson told Devon Live: “The M5 is currently closed between junctions 25 (Taunton) and 24 (Bridgwater) following a multiple vehicle collision at about 12.20pm today, Thursday 24 August.
“Thankfully at this stage it’s not believed anyone has suffered any life-threatening injury. Due to the number of vehicles to recover – four plus a caravan – the motorway is not expected to fully reopen before 3pm.
“Motorists are urged to avoid the area.”
