MAN IN HIS 70S DIES IN FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH ON MILITARY ROAD

A man in his 70s has sadly died following a fatal motorcycle crash on Military Road yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), Police have confirmed.

As previously reported by Island Echo[1], emergency services – including the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance – were called to the scene between Chale and Brighstone at just before 15:30.

It’s understood the motorcycle left the carriageway and came to rest in a ditch, trapping the rider underneath. The incident has been described as a single-vehicle crash.

Collision investigators arrived from the mainland at around 17:00 yesterday to conduct a forensic examination of the crash site, with the road closed in both directions.

Several hours into that investigation Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary issued an appeal for information[2], revealing they believe that another motorcyclist may have been riding just ahead of the motorcycle involved in the collision.
