Moment man stands punching side of van before vicious brawl breaks out in ‘road rage’ incident during rush hour
- Incident broke out on Old Kent Road in southeast London earlier this week
- No arrests have been reported after the shocking video footage was released
This is the shocking moment a man punched the side of a van before a vicious brawl during the evening rush hour.
The ‘road rage’ incident occurred on Old Kent Road, southeast London[2], at around 5.42pm on Tuesday, August 15.
Video footage showed vehicles beeping loudly, before a man – who was shirtless – began to viciously and repeatedly punch the side of a white van.
Before long the door swung open and the driver launched out to engage in a brawl with the man and one other.
At one point four men appeared to be engaged in the fight, before the driver got back in his van and sped away.
A man (right) who was shirtless can be seen approaching the van, with another person following behind him, and punching it
Before long the driver of the van stopped the vehicle and launched out to engage in a brawl with the man and one other person following behind him
Other motorists began shouting at the hold-up, while one man appeared to throw an item – possibly a shoe – into the distance.
It is not clear what initially caused the incident, in which one man suffered an injured hand.
No arrests have been reported and the case is now closed, according to police.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: ‘Police were called to Old Kent Road at about 17:42hrs on Tuesday 15 August following reports of a road range incident involving two men.
‘One man suffered an injury to his hand as a result of the incident. He declined to speak to police.
‘The other party remains unknown. The case has been closed.’
The incident follows a spate of other incidents of road rage in London earlier this year that have seen drivers lash out at other motorists during heated altercations.
Earlier this month, an angry bus driver and motorist were filmed having a foul-mouthed row[3] in front of stunned passengers.
The footage, captured in Harrow on the Hill, west London, showed a bus driver and a £30,000 Audi A3 owner arguing as his car appears to block the road.
After exchanging a few blows the other man restrains the shirtless motorist and tries to lead him away from the van driver
The van driver then appeared to throw at item – possibly a shoe – into the distance
The shirtless man was able to get away from two other men holding him back to once again engage with the driver
But the driver of the van had already returned to his vehicle and had begun driving off
The Audi owner can be seen shouting under the bus driver’s window, before walking back to his vehicle to shouts of ‘move your car!’
But he hit back and fumed: ‘You put my life at risk. And the people on the bus’s lives at risk.’
The single-decker driver replies: ‘Go and report me.’ The Audi motorist says: ‘F*ck you p*ick.’
One passenger on the bus can be heard chatting on his phone and says: ‘It’s all kicking off.’
After fiery exchange of words the bus eventually manages to squeeze by the Audi, when one passenger can be heard saying ‘Oh my God’.
In July, a member of the public videoed the shocking moment a man decided to push a woman[4] off her mobility scooter during a heated argument,
The altercation broke out between the pair on the high street in Horley, Surrey.
An argument erupted after the woman on the scooter appears to take issue with the fact the Mercedes driver has driven his car onto what appears to be a mainly pedestrianised area of the town centre.
The woman can be heard screaming into the man’s passenger window after she was forced to change her direction to the car driver’s choice of parking space.
After being angered by the woman, the driver then topples her mobility scooter over, leaving the helpless woman to crash onto the pavement slabs below before driving off.

In another shocking incident, a man can be seen dragging a lady’s scooter onto the floor
In another incident earlier this year a road rage row in London turned ugly[5] as rival drivers brawled in the street in front of fellow shocked motorists.
It is unclear what caused the vicious altercation between the men – who both sped off after the fight.
Speaking to the MailOnline, one witness – who preferred to stay anonymous – described his surprise at seeing the two men risk their lives by scrapping on the busy A-road.
In the strange video a man in a black fleece pushed a man in a grey tracksuit against a white van.
The other man fought back and pushed the man off him and back into the road where the brawl continued to the bemusement of drivers.
Following this, the two men simmered and puffed up their chests at each other – both waiting for the other to make the next move.
When neither does, both men appear to cool down and and return to their vehicles – with one stopping only to pick up his broken glasses.
