Plane crash lands on central reservation of busy road

A plane has crash landed on the central reservation of a busy road during rush hour.

Gloucestershire Police were called to the A40 Golden Valley Bypass just before 6pm on Thursday, August 10, following reports of a plane crash landing on the carriageway. Pictures from the scene show the aircraft on the central reservation of the busy road with dozens of cars surrounding it.

Police have confirmed nobody was injured in the incident and the light aircraft did not collide with any other vehicles. The fire service was called to the area and crews were pictured trying to remove the plane from the road, GloucestershireLive[1] reports.

The road was closed in both directions with huge delays in the area. All cars have were cleared from the road while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Police said: “We were called shortly before 6pm today (Thursday) with a report a light aircraft had landed on the A40 Golden Valley,” said a police spokesperson.

“No-one was injured and it is understood that no other vehicles were involved. Police remain at the scene at this time.”
