The road onto Portland has reportedly re-opened after a fatal collision this morning.

Portland Beach Road was closed at around 8.30am after a man in his 30s was fatally struck by a lorry.

His family have been informed.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours to allow for emergency services to safely deal with the scene.[1]

This resulted in long tailbacks both into Wyke Regis and Portland.

Travel Dorset states: “Earlier accident investigation work on A354 Portland Beach Road both ways between The Wildlife Centre (Portland) and Ferrymans Way (Weymouth).

“The road re-opened around ten minutes ago. It was closed since this morning following a serious crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian.”
