Life-changing injuries

Cyclist injured

It happened just before 8.45am on Friday, August 18, on the A41 junction with the A405, Watford.

Officers said the crash was on the northbound carriageway with the cyclist riding a silver and black bike, and the van was a white Ford Transit Connect.

The cyclist, a man in his 20s from Hemel Hempstead, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Police confirmed the van driver, a 26-year-old man from Luton, was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident.

He has since been released on police bail while enquires continue.

Elderly pair injured

Two pensioners were seriously injured when a car crashed into a wall.

It happened at 12.50pm and left the driver, a man in his 80s, and the female passenger in her 90s, badly injured.

The pair were rushed to Watford General Hospital for treatment.

A car ended up on its roof[7] after a crash in a road that locals fear has become an accident hotspot.

Herts Police had been called to the crash at around 12.15am on Sunday, August 13, and later confirmed that “there were no injuries that required immediate hospital treatment”.

The vehicle “took out” a bus stop sign, according to a passer-by.

Upon seeing the result of the crash, locals raised concerns about the stretch appearing to be a hotspot for accidents, due to other recent collisions.
