Teenager taken to hospital after crash with van as probe launched

A teenager has been taken to hospital after being struck by a van in the early hours of the morning.

The 17-year-old pedestrian was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the incident on the A944 Lang Stracht shortly after 5am on Saturday, August 5.

The motorist, who was driving a white Fiat Ducato, was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

A probe has now been launched to trace a taxi driver who also stopped at the crash and a female pedestrian in the area at the time.

Police Scotland said both could help in their investigation into the incident.

Sergeant Iain Nicolson said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a taxi who stopped at the crash and a female pedestrian seen in the area at the time.

“Anyone with information or who has dash-cam footage is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0806 of August 5.
