Woman dies in horror city crash as man arrested, three others hurt
A woman has died and three others have been injured after a huge crash on Great Hampton Street in the Hockley area of North Birmingham on Wednesday night (2nd August).
Despite the best efforts of numerous paramedics and trauma doctors, the lady, the passenger in the Nissan Qashqai, was confirmed dead at the scene.

A man, the driver of a white Audi A5, has been arrested, police say. His passenger, and the driver of the Qashqai were also hurt.
The driver of the Audi A5, who had minor injuries along with his passenger, was arrested.Two ambulances, three paramedic managers and the MERIT Trauma Doctor and Critical Care Paramedic were sent to the scene after the ambulance service received multiple calls at around 11.25pm on Wednesday evening.

See a video of the scene last nightA West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found patients in two cars that had both suffered significant damage.

“Unfortunately, a woman in the first car had suffered very serious injuries and despite receiving advanced clinical care, it was not possible to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
A field of debris was strewn all across Great Hampton Street in Hockley“A man from the same car had suffered multiple injuries. He was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Sandwell Hospital.
“There were two men in the second car. They had both suffered non-serious injuries. After being assessed and treated at the scene, they too were taken to Sandwell hospital for further assessment.”
A police spokesperson said:“We are investigating after a fatal crash in Aston last night.

“In Great Hampton Street, shortly after 11pm, an Audi A5 and a Nissan Qashqai collided.
A BMW was also being photographed and assessed by investigators at the scene.“Sadly, the woman passenger in the Nissan died from her injuries.
“The driver of the Nissan was treated for minor injuries and the driver and passenger of the Audi were both taken to hospital for further treatment.
