A woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a bus, emergency services have confirmed.
Police and ambulance crews headed to North Street in Brighton[1] yesterday evening after a woman stepped out in front of a bus[2] and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Brighton and Hove[3] buses have confirmed the slow-speed crash involved one of their vehicles and that the woman was assisted by the bus driver.
Alex Chutter, operations director at Brighton & Hove Buses said: “We are aware of an incident that took place on North Street at 6.15pm on Wednesday, August 23, where a pedestrian stepped into the road and was struck by a bus heading northbound on the 5A route.
“The driver made contact with the emergency services immediately and the pedestrian was taken to hospital. Early indications into the investigation suggest this was a slow speed impact.”
Bystanders reported hearing a “thud” before seeing a woman lying in the road in North Street just after 6pm yesterday.
A passer-by added: “I heard a thud and the bus stopped.
