2 hospitalized as car rear-ends pickup truck in Mecosta County

MECOSTA COUNTY, MI – A man driving a car crashed into the rear of a pickup truck Tuesday morning in Mecosta County, police said.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7:59 a.m., Sept. 19 at McKinley Road near 120th Avenue in Rodney, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators determined a 63-year-old Rodney man driving a car crashed into the rear of a pickup truck driven by a 24-year-old Rodney woman, police said.

The male driver and his 59-year-old passenger suffered severe injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. The man was taken to Big Rapids Corewell Health before he was flown by AeroMed helicopter to Butterworth Hospital, police said, while the woman was taken directly to Butterworth Hospital.

The female driver and her two younger children were in the pickup truck, police said, and none suffered injuries.

Mecosta County deputies were assisted by the county’s EMS, Colfax Township Fire Department, Morton Township Rescure, Big Rapids Towing, Meceola Central Dispatch and AeroMed.
