2 Lawrence teens indicted in connection with Angie Aristy’s death, DA says
A grand jury indicted two Lawrence teenagers in connection with the September shooting death of Angie Aristy[1], Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office announced Friday.
Jobe Santiago, 14, and Jayden Torres, 15, were returned indictments on Thursday in connection with Aristy’s death, along with being indicted as youthful offenders on one count each of armed robbery, Tucker’s office said in a statement.
Lawrence police were alerted to a shooting on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at around 9:20 p.m. near 300 Howard St. When officers arrived, they found Aristy with multiple gunshot wounds.
She was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where she died from her injuries. Santiago and Torres were arrested in Lowell and charged on Sept. 13, Tucker’s office said.
A GoFundMe[4] was set up by Aristy’s family members to raise money to help her family after her death.
“I’m raising money for this tragedy that my sister-in-law went through,” sister-in-law Leamsi Guzman wrote. “She loved, she was strong, she preached and she made others laugh. Most importantly, she cared about others first.”
The end of the short description included “#F***GUNVIOLENCE.”
The fundraiser has since blown past its $2,500 goal and received $3,958 from 90 donations.
