7 people injured in 4-vehicle crash in Southwest Michigan

EDWARDSBURG, MI -- Seven people were injured and transported to a hospital after a four-vehicle crash in Edwardsburg, police said.

At 2:31 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, officers with the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department responded to a personal injury crash that occurred on Main Street west of M-62.

A 42-year-old Edwardsburg man had a medical episode while driving and rear-ended a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Edwardsburg man, police said in a news release.

That vehicle hit an eastbound vehicle driven by a 43-year-old Niles man and struck another an eastbound vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Edwardsburg man.

Edwardsburg Fire Department extricated one person.

The four drivers, as well as three other passengers, were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.

Ambulance services from Edwardsburg, Porter Township, Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Services, Clay and Cleveland Ambulance Services all transported the injured people.

Police are investigating the crash and did not share details of the different injuries.
