999 crews called to crash on Glasgow’s M8 motorway

Firefighters and police officers were alerted of the incident on the M8, near Riddrie, this morning around 10.20am.

Both forces have confirmed they attended a one-car crash.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent out three firetrucks to assist cops, who remain on the scene.

In pictures sent to the Glasgow Times, the aftermath of the incident can be seen, with the barrier bent and what appears to be a black scorch mark.

Traffic Scotland[2] has warned motorists that the lanes are restricted due to debris and traffic is heavy in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.25am on Saturday, September 16, 2023, police were called to the M8 near junction 13, Glasgow, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.

“Officers remain at the scene and recovery will be arranged.”
