A1 Doncaster closure explained as man hit by vehicle after being spotted on southbound carriageway
A man has been hit by a car on the A1(M) with South Yorkshire Police closing the motorway.
South Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a man on the southbound carriage of the A1(M) just after 5am today (Mon). The man was spotted between junctions 35 and 36 near Doncaster.
The man was then hit by a car on the slip road at junction 35. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
As a result of the crash, the A1(M) was closed until 8.05am, leading to one hour delays and four miles of congestion. South Yorkshire Police[2] said: “We responded to multiple reports of a man sighted on the southbound carriageway of the A1 between junction 35 and 36 just after 5am on Monday 11 September.
“The male was struck by a vehicle on the slip road at J35, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Following a lane closure at J35 the carriageway was reopened at 08:05am.”
The road has since reopened, with traffic now normal on the A1.
