A14 crash near Brampton sees woman cut free by firefighters as lanes closed to traffic
A woman has been injured after a three-vehicle crash on the A14[1] in Cambridgeshire[2] on Friday (September 15). The incident, which involved two lorries and a car was first reported at around 7am.
Two lanes of the eastbound carriageway were closed due to the crash with queuing traffic up to J22 A1 in Huntingdon[3]. Delays of up to 50 minutes were reported on the roads at one point.
Emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance, all arrived on the scene to conduct investigation work. Motorists were also being told to find alternative routes or plan their journey accordingly if travelling in that direction.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Huntingdon and Kimbolton were called to a road traffic collision on A14 Eastbound near Brampton. Firefighters arrived to find a collision involving two HGVs and a car.
"Using specialist equipment firefighters released a female casualty who was left in the care of ambulance crews. Crews returned to their stations by 9am."
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police added that details of the woman's injuries are unclear. However, they are not thought to be serious and no arrests have been made.
The road reopened at around 10am this morning. Normal traffic conditions soon returned to the roads.
