A police spokesman said: “The 18-year-old male driver of the Citroen was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The male driver of the lorry was not seriously injured.

“Emergency services have been on scene since the incident was reported and expect to remain there for some time, the road is likely to remain closed for the majority of the day. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and not to drive through the road closures. The road is clearly marked as closed and we would be grateful if drivers could pay attention to the signs and not attempt to access the area.”
