A46 crash: Appeal for witnesses after motorcyclist dies

The 48-year-old man riding a Honda motorbike was pronounced dead after the crash on the A46 Evesham bypass yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

The Honda motorcycle was travelling southbound from the direction of Salford Priors towards the Twyford roundabout at about 5.50pm.

At one point, the motorbike left the road and crashed into a lamppost.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A46 Evesham bypass involving one vehicle.

"Officers carrying out enquiries into the collision are appealing for witnesses, including any motorists on the road at the time with dash-cam footage.

One ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

An off-duty firefighter also stopped at the scene and provided medical assistance before the arrival of ambulance crews.

The road was closed at the roundabout while emergency services attended and reopened in the early hours of the morning today (Thursday, August 31).

Motorists were advised to avoid the A46 near Twyford Island in Evesham and expect delays following a fatal crash after 6pm yesterday evening (Wednesday, August 30).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find one patient, a man, who was in a critical condition.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support, but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
