One person has been killed and another left in critical condition after a horror bus collision in Pembrokeshire today.

Emergency crews were called to the Cleddau Bridge in Pembrokeshire, west Wales, and several passengers are believed to have suffered "various injuries" in the incident. Firefighters[1] were able to free the "severely trapped" driver who was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance. Nine others were also admitted in \road ambulances.

Though the situation initially looked hopeful after the driver was freed, local police tonight confirmed that the crash led to one fatality and another individual is in critical condition in hospital. The victims' identities are currently unknown and there has been no update as to the driver's condition.

A Dyfed-Powys Police[2] spokeswoman said: "The collision involved a car and a coach. Sadly, one person has died. Next of kin have been advised and are being supported by officers."

She added: "One person was taken to hospital in a critical condition. A number of passengers on the coach were taken to hospital with various levels of injuries. The A477 is currently closed between the Honeyborough roundabout and the Pembroke roundabout and road users are advised to take an alternative route.”

It's currently unknown what caused the crash and politicians from the local area have been sending their thoughts to the affected parties. The alarm was raised at around 2pm today after an air ambulance arrived at the scene and took off with the freed driver shortly after. The local health board asked people to avoid attending the Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest unless their condition was life-threatening or serious after a major incident alert was raised.

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire[3] and Rescue Service said: "At 2.19pm the Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven, Haverfordwest, Tenby and Narberth crews were called to an incident on the Cleddau Bridge, Pembroke Dock. Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving one 52-seater bus and one private motor vehicle. Many of the bus passengers are suffering with various injuries.
