Live A603 traffic updates today as ‘serious’ crash involving lorry in Willington leaves Bedfordshire road closed

A Bedfordshire A-road is closed following a ‘serious’ crash involving a lorry today (Thursday, September 14). Emergency services are at the scene on the A603 Bedford Road between Willington and Moggerhanger, a few miles from the Cambridgeshire border.

The incident was first reported at around 11.31am. The road is shut in both directions.

A Bedfordshire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of a incident involving a lorry near Willington Garden Centre and are currently on scene alongside emergency services. There is a full road closure in place on the A603, Moggerhanger – please avoid the area at this time and seek alternative routes.”

A Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters from Kempston and Bedford are in attendance at this serious road traffic collision on A603 between Willington and Sandy. The incident is likely to cause disruption and delays so we urge members of the public to avoid the area.”

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “A603 Bedford Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident, a lorry involved from Wood Lane (Willington) to Park Road ( Moggerhanger ).”
