Lorry crash on Cambridgeshire A-road causes 6-hour closure

A crash involving a lorry caused a Cambridgeshire road to be closed for six hours on Monday (September 18). The A141 Spittals Way was closed just after 5am and reopened at 11am following recovery of the vehicle.

The road was closed in both directions between Washingley Road and Stonehill. The closure caused delays around Huntingdon[1].

A police spokesperson said: “We were called with reports of a road traffic collision involving a HGV on the A141 Spittals Way, Huntingdon, at 5.08am today (18 September). The road is currently closed in both directions while recovery takes place. No injuries have been reported.”

Traffic monitoring company Inrix said: “Traffic easing, accident cleared on A141 Spittals Way in both directions from Washingley Road to Stonehill. Road has re-opened just before 11:00.”

A Cambridgeshire[4] County Council spokesperson said: “Huntingdon – A141 Spittals Way between Washingley Road and Stonehill is now open. Earlier delays have started to ease.”
