M42 crash closed busy exit causing huge queues

A busy exit off the M42[1] in Warwickshire[2] was closed because of a police incident nearby. Motorists were unable to leave the northbound carriageway at Junction 9, for the M6 Toll / Curdworth, after a lorry and a car were in collision.

A man was taken to hospital in Birmingham with minor injuries. Two other people were check over at the scene, but were discharged by paramedics.

The closure caused huge queues northbound stretching back to Junction 7A, for Coleshill, and Junction 4A for the M6 link. A post on traffic information website Inrix had said: “M42 Northbound exit slip road closed, queueing traffic due to police incident at J9 A4097 Kingsbury Road (Curdworth / Coleshill).”
