M62: Police launch appeal following fatal crash on M-way
A pedestrian in his 30s died at the scene of the incident on the M62.
Police were called just after midnight on Tuesday to the incident which involved a car and a pedestrian.
A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say his his family are being supported by specially trained officers.
Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of the man being a pedestrian on the motorway prior to being struck.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said “A 25-year-old man remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
“An investigation has been launched by GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit and enquiries are ongoing. Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident; or may have dashcam footage of the collision or of the pedestrian on the motorway; to make contact Greater Manchester Police.
“The M62 between Eccles and Birchwood was closed in both directions whilst collision investigation work was undertaken. We thank the public for their patience and understanding whilst we worked to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
