Man, 18, killed in A17 car and lorry crash near Sutterton

An 18-year-old man died in a crash involving two vehicles on the A17. Police said it happened in Sutterton early on Sunday (September 3).

Lincolnshire Police[1] said it was called at just before 5am to a collision between a Citroen C4 car and a HGV. It happened between Swineshead roundabout and Sutterton roundabout.

The 18-year-old driver of the Citroen was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The male driver of the lorry was not seriously injured.

Lincolnshire Police is now appealing for witnesses to get in touch. The road remained partly closed at 3.45pm on Sunday and police appealed to drivers to avoid the area as accident investigation work continued.

The force said in an appeal for information: "Emergency services have been on scene since the incident was reported and expect to remain there for some time, the road is likely to remain closed for the majority of the day. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and not to drive through the road closures.

"The road is clearly marked as closed and we would be grateful if drivers could pay attention to the signs and not attempt to access the road. If you can help with our investigation, there are a number of ways to get in touch."
